Healthy fats – essential for a balanced diet

Fats have long had a bad reputation, but not all fats are the same. Unsaturated fatty acids, such as those found in olive oil, nuts and fatty fish, are actually essential for our health. They support our heart health, have an anti-inflammatory effect and are important for brain function. Omega-3 fatty acids, for example, are a real all-rounder for dancers. They have an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the production of substances that promote inflammation. This protects the joints from wear and tear and promotes mobility. They also support the cell membranes, which improves the flexibility of the muscles and tendons. After training, they accelerate the regeneration of muscle cells and thus contribute to faster recovery.

In contrast, saturated fatty acids, which are mainly found in animal products (e.g. meat and sausage products, milk, butter, eggs) and trans fats, which are found in industrially manufactured or fried foods, should be consumed sparingly. In order to benefit from the positive effects of healthy fats, it is advisable to include a variety of high-fat foods in your diet. These include, for example, fatty fish, avocados, nuts and seeds.

As a dancer, you should include fatty fish in your diet at least twice a week. It may also be useful to support your diet with Omega-3 capsules, for example:
